Can You Offer Your Dog an Active Lifestyle?

Of all the creatures which man can rely upon, dogs are the ones deemed as his best friend. but unfortunately, many of these dogs tend to feast or play with the things that are valuable to you. The reason for this is simply because, by nature, dogs are born to be active, but they live with a TV addicted couch potato. A dog is more likely to feel depressed if he is matched with an keeper who has a different lifestyle and this can sometimes create a tense in a human relationship.

Dog Health

If you bring a dog into your home, you must think about the physical activity level that the dog needs to be physically and emotionally well. Having a dog that needs walking twice daily can in some manner give those idle adults the kind of physical exercise that for so many years, they have been taken for granted. Changing their ways is not something that some idle individuals would really do to make a good match with their active dogs. Since idle owners are more likely to slack off during walking sessions, the dog is not likely to get the essential benefits of having a frequent outside time thus the dog will be the one to suffer.

You should be conscious of that the quantity and kind of physical exercise that you give to your dog is not the same as giving him the amount of physical activity that he needs everyday and both should be catered to. You should give your dog his required time to walk, run, jump and relax for each day. Walking on a leash to a park or just around your block is also one way of doing this. A home with a fenced yard is a suitable place for a dog to run around and play freely without being checked on a lead. If you are one of those older adults who are concerned about having limited mobility, then you might as well go for a dog that won’t demand you of too much physical activity everyday. people who enjoy spending time outdoors for recreation or to unwind after a day at work are ideal keepers for active dogs. Both keeper and dog look forward to the end of the day, since they will both enjoy the fun and freedom of running together or chasing each other around the park.

It is more likely that larger dogs have the propensity to be more active in terms of physical aspect. Those dogs with the heritage of being working or hunting dogs can be sited as examples of these dogs. They have an innate desire to be busy and work off energy. Dogs which are born for movement and agility may include the Doberman, Beagle, Irish Setter, German Shepherd and Greyhound, thus, it is natural for them to require some kind of exercise everyday. Size can fool you as the extremely large dogs like the St. Bernard and Bull Mastiff, who can easily outweigh their owners, are low physical activity dogs. Rescuing a lost skier or other things related to that might have been the main physical activity that a St. Bernard does according to the movies, what you miss is the rest of the time when the dog is sleeping in front of the fireplace.

Small dogs like Poodles, Pekinese and Chihuahuas can live in small spaces and forgo the daily long walk in the park, but their highly strung temperaments cause them to be high in physical activity around the house. Some of the actions that they keep on doing may include the pointless running at all directions and jumping or bouncing on you or your guests, but as soon as the energy burst is all used up, they just tend to calm down. That’s the time for those little dogs to recharge and usually, they do get their well-deserved nap by crawling back on your lap or on their sumptuous pillow.

Buying a dog may seem to involve so many things that you need to learn first – and that is in reality true. By taking time to make a profile of the dog that best fits your living space, character, and personal activity level, you’ll have a better match for a lasting human relationship.
