How to Buy a Dog

One of life’s great mistakes is taking your children into a pet store if you aren’t serious about bringing home a pet. You shouldn’t be stunned seeing your children getting addicted and bonded with the cutest pup that they can find. You just can’t say no since you will be passed with a pup that looks so charming with its wet brown eyes which seems to beg you to take him home together with your weeping children who are just ready to throw their tantrums provided you get them what they desire. Aside from the unstoppable calls of your kids, you will likely find yourself reminiscing with the past particularly those moments that you had with your family dog – you’ll find yourself paying for all the doggie stuff that you bought as well as the puppy itself.

Dog

When you buy a dog in a whim, only then that you will realise all the regrets of doing so. Only then, after several days of bonding with the dog, that you will find out that the personality of the dog is not something that could fit your family’s way of life. Then, you tend to start taking the dog for granted as you will no longer have the tendency to take him for a walk or devote your working hours just to feed him. It’s like having another baby that you didn’t plan. You become more irritated with those minor accidents caused by the puppy, its habits of barking during night, his chewing of your furniture and other typical dog traits. That is usually the time wherein some keepers who are insensitive enough, tend to rebuke their dogs with too much violence or merely disregard them.

Sadly, many of the dogs in pounds are there because they were the impulse buy of a home or an adult who failed to think about what dog ownership demands. Being knowledgeable about certain facts that has something to do with the dog such as its traits and possible future size was not the thing that those kinds of keepers considered since they were so amused with the cute and marvellous features of the puppy. After several months, it is more likely that a conflict of some sort will tend to develop. Many dogs in pounds are actually genuine dogs with great potential as pets if they go home with the right home. Being chosen by those individuals who were not actually ready for all the responsibilities and adjustment that owning a dog involves, is the only misdeed that the dog tends to suffer.

Some breeds of dogs are more hard to please than others. Each day, they may need increased hours of interaction and fun through schooling, exercises and bonding times. If you don’t provide it, they find it on their own – and it usually involves chewing or barking. Some types of dogs want a space where they could freely run and play everyday. These kinds of dogs can actually become best pals of your kids. It doesn’t usually mean that if a certain dog is fond of playing with older kids, they too, would enjoy the company of younger ones or toddlers for an instance. That is why it is very crucial to have the knowledge about which breed of dog can actually accommodate the kind of personality you have, or perhaps your home and the amount of time that you can give to take good care of them.

Slow down as you visit breeders or pet stores and spend time visiting the dogs. Yes, it’s hard to leave those big brown eyes and excited bark, all the same, if you really want to take the pup home, you really want to be sure that it would be the best place he could call a home and not merely another wrong house to reside. If you want to have an efficient background check and assessment of the dog, you might as well leave your kids at home to avoid any confusions and whim buying.
